less intensity
salam.
azri came to our class today. during our two period of biology.
who is this azri anyway?
he’s my super senior of kmb (batch 0507). now in National University of Ireland
in Galway, studying medicine, first year.
azri shared about his experience in kmb and also a bit in ireland. among all
the things he said, one thing really caught my attention.
studying medicine in galway
is less stressful compare to doing IB
in KMB
he said, that most of x-kmb students who’s doing medicine in ireland
agree with that. well…i guess it make sense. Here are the reasons why (according to azri) and my comments
as students of IB in KMB (such a good rhyme) we learnt to…
-manage time well
yup2…IB students have million things to do. beside the hectic class schedule,
we have Extended Essay (with 4000 words to write plus the time consumed 4 the
research), Malay Internal Assessment (IA), business and econs IA which required
us to go crazy over business companies in Malaysia and study about their
problems, profits, and so on. not to mention all those CAS activities with
charity works, sports, creative clubs n etc
-priotize things
well in certain circumtances, where u have 2 clubs and suddenly these 2 clubs
hold a meeting in the same time, same place (in this case the ds). which
meeting will u choose? plus, your rummate just crammed for the ur room key bcuz
she left hers inside. That’s when u have to decide and priotize things. Or
perhaps u hv camping over the weekends versus ur handsome cousin will be
married on the same weekend. Hahaha…as IB students there’s so many things in
our life here. Too many options makes us realize that we must somehow decide,
plan, and take actions according to our priority.
-speak English.
During my high school I have this englishphobia. Whenever
I want to speak English people tend to call names. Poyo r..mengalahkan mat
salleh…lupe bahasa ibunda n so on. I guess many of my friends facing d same
problems…of why we don’t speak English during high school. But in
kmb..speaking in English in so fun. U can speak English to anybody even d
makcik ds or perhaps to Mok (mok is a name of fattylicious cat in KMB – I adore
him). Fluency in english is an extra for our medical interview. Plus all d
presentations in class. How I wish I could speak English as I debating in Malay
so I could explain my thoughts in TOK properly. I just couldn’t deliver them
well bcuz my English is just so mediocre.
Those are some points from azri. Well I’m proud to be
chosen by MARA (by HIM initially) to do IB as my prep program. Some call IB as
‘internationally busy’ some called ‘It’s Banting’, Puan hanirus addressed it as
Intelligent Beauties and Intelligent Boys, jokes among previous senior told
that IB stands for ‘Ikan Batu’ for the notorious hard-rock fishes at dewan selera.
For me, IB is a training ground to be a human. ‘A human’. With that I thank Allah for all HIS wise
planning and decision for me. =)
P/s: btw today (26.06.08) marks my first anniversary at
KMB. =)
